The Oak Creek trail may seem somewhat nebulous if looking at a modern map because there are indeed several trails labeled, Oak Creek. The definitive, BLM Oak Creek trail however is a brief, peaceful, scenic trek through desert landscape located in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The trail is on the cusp of a notable region in the park where wildlife is far more abundant. Undoubtedly, hikers may spot deer, an occasional owl or even a bighorn sheep in other areas—but it's here in this region and moreso heading south, chance encounters become far more probable.

This indescript jaunt is peaceful, provides vast views, and perhaps most importantly—is an optional connector route.

Otherwise, look at this area on Google Maps in advance. Compare it to Apple Maps. You'll find numerous "social trails". Of which were created from any number of hikers traversing this area. Historically, Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas is home to thousands of years of human history and archaeology. There's no telling if said peoples, or even those throughout the last 1-200 years utilized these trails, but there's an innumerable amount of options and configurations one can embark on. What's more, is that Google Maps seems to be far better identifying these mysterious routes and via satellite, hikers can preplan a custom journey to follow seamlessly.

Additionally, do note, the terrain in this region is deceptively flat. The ground has deep dips and sections where the trail disappears entirely. In turn, burros, deer, etc may be closer than you think. And while Red Rock Canyon is a dogs paradise, burros pose a shockingly large danger if threatened in any way. While horses will most likely choose flight over fight, burros are the antithesis. These adorable animals have the propensity to be quite violent if provoked. Be aware. Snap pictures, hike with your dog, children, etc, but keep all of the above very close.
